- Apply for a Canadian passport
- Hold dual Citizenship (Country-Dependent)
- Live and work anywhere in Canada

Ways to Gain Canadian Citizenship




Citizenship By Descent
Born Outside of Canada Before 15 December 2025.
An application for a Canadian Citizenship Certificate is now possible through more than one generation, since the changes to the Citizenship Act: Bill C-3.
Key requirements:
- There must be an ‘Original’ Canadian as a direct ancestor (e.g. grandparent, great grandparent etc)

This person must have:
- been born in Canada or
- obtained Canadian citizenship before their child's birth
- Future generations do not have to have been born in Canada to have a claim for Canadian Citizenship
A child born to a Canadian Citizen has a claim from birth and is a Canadian Citizen..

Born outside of Canada to a Canadian parent on or after 15th December 2025.
If a child was born to a Canadian Citizen, on or after 15th December 2025, the parent must show substantial connections to Canada – 1095 days in Canada prior to the birth of the child, in order to pass Canadian Citizenship to the child
